Submersion | Χαρά Τριανταφυλλίδου

Flooded by fog and torn apart
My aching mind tries to escape
The cage that caught its cracked up heart
Leaving no room to breathe and shake.
Promises, prayers, and sapphires
All pretty and shining but still so plain
And fingers twirled in blackened wires
Dreaming and planning, all in vain.
Caught up in traps of mist and glitter
Late nights with suns that never rose
Quick hits of substances so bitter
That pinned me down like thorns of snow.
Touching the bottom of my abyss
Declared my own demon's daughter
No longer trying to escape
For my lungs were full of water
