When the lights go. - Βόρειος Άνεμος

At first I paused,
I glanced and thought
of islands far away.

The light was dim,
her body a sin,
a blooming rose in May.

I reached her hand.
I said “I can’t
look at you without tears.”

She shyly smiled,
eyes beaming wild,
and nudged away my fears.

I felt her, warm,
a cosy home.
The world faded from sight.

She deeply sighed
and, as I smiled,
I sank inside her night.

My fingers strolled
as bodies folded
tangled in our dream.

But, daylight shone;
now, all alone
again, lost in the stream.

Her dream returns
each night and burns
my skin with fever’s heat.

And every time,
my heartbeats rhyme
inside her heaven’s beat.

She’ll never be
alone with me,
like in the dreams we had.

But, every night
life gets it right;
and that can’t be so bad.
